Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket
I took the Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket to the land of its conception a few weeks ago. It got caught in rain as heavy as the rushing waterfalls in Voss, and provided comfortable breathability walking through the city streets of Bergen. The Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket is comfortable, breathable and waterproof.
This jacket was soft and agile. I love the cut of this jacket. It isn’t boxy or awkward to wear, rather, it is flattering on a feminine figure. The articulated sleeves made it excellent for full mobility while hiking. The Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket is flexible and lightweight, while still providing optimal protection against the elements. It also has elastic cord that can be cinched in around the hood as well as around the bottom of the jacket, to make it a tighter fit in heavy wind or rain.
I’ve noticed with previous waterproof and windproof jackets that they do a great job with keeping the water out but often don’t breathe very well. There is a highly breathable double weave softshell incorporated in this jacket, that I learned about from Helly Hansen’s site, with 89% polyester and 11% elastane. It has a peached back and DWR front, located at, center front panel, back body, under the sleeves and along the side body. DWR stands for durable water repellant. There are vents under the arms, as well as an upper back mesh vent that all worked excellent at keeping you cool while wearing the Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket.
Some Norwegian cities can exceed 3,000mm (118in) of rainfall annually and a good rain coat is a necessity. We got caught in a torrential downpour while hiking Preikestolen in Norway. It didn’t let up during our journey down and I think any jacket would have been stretched to its limits. The Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket performed well considering the extreme conditions, but by the end of our hike, water had permeated the sleeves and back.
The unique structure of this jacket is exceptional at allowing air to pass through, keeping the user cool and comfortable, and it offers 10,000mm Waterproofness and 10,000gm moisture vapor permeability. There is a 2.5 layer fabric with 100% polyurethane laminate, located at the hood, front body, top sleeve, cuff and back yoke which makes for a soft and flexible jacket. I noticed these sections of the jacket will eventually soak through on the edges, if fully immersed in water. The Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket will keep you dry, as long as you aren’t caught in a deluge for multiple hours.
This jacket is a perfect choice for trail running or hiking with light to moderate rain because of its incredible breathability. The Helly Hansen W Vanir Heta Jacket will keep you cool and protected with its unique design. It is very comfortable, flexible and lightweight, making it an easy choice to bring along wherever you go. Helly Hansen has created an all purpose water and windproof jacket that can be used for any adventure.
