Jordanelle Triathlon 2015 Thanks TRIUTAH!

On the morning of August 8th, 2016 it was a relief to see that the clouds were not threatening and that the race was on.  The evening before there was thunder and lightning that could have lingered through the morning.  Thankfully the sun came up and the whole waterfront area and transition had the smell of fresh rain.

More than 300 racers converged on the Rock Cliff side of Jordanelle Reservoir.  This is not on the side of highway 40.  This is on the the narrow neck that points to the town of Francis.  This is on the east side of the reservoir.

This was my first opportunity to participate in the Jordanelle TRIUTAH event.  I have heard so many good things about the event for so long.  It was great to finally have the opportunity to race on this great course.  The swim is tucked away from the rest of this reservoir and the water was a cool temperature.  The transition area is near the water.  The bike course has a nice consistent uphill that was very gradual.  Then a nice fast downhill that shot right back in to the ROCK CLIFF camping area.  I love the running part.  The run started on asphalt and ended on a trail.  The trail was a nice hilly loop that curved back into the park.  The finish line is more than half a mile from the transition.  The finish line has a nice area with big trees and lots of grass.  Of course Pyromaniac pizza was delicious as always.

Overall the event went very smoothly and I spoke with several competitors that had a great experience.  If you are looking for a well done and challenging race this is a great race for August with great organization and beautiful scenery.

My highlight was see my son in the above picture get 2nd place in his age group.  He started 5 minutes before me and I did’t catch him until the run.  As you can see in this picture it was a beautiful day for a race.

Thanks TRIUTAH for a RAD RACE!!!
