Brooks Running- Adrenaline GTS 16

Motivated by feedback from consumers who run, Brooks Running takes shoe buying in an old direction, and the Adrenaline GTS 16 is part of that charge.

The (new) Old Experience

Remember the good old days when companies made shoes to fit your stride, instead of talking you into completely change the way you move? Those days are finally returning, as run-obsessed companies like, Brooks Running are changing the way they think about the entire consumer experience. Instead of a company attempting to identify a runner’s perceived ‘weakness’ and matching the shoes to fix it, Brooks Running has flipped the game. Now runners decide what kind of an experience they are looking for in a shoe, and Brooks provides options to fit those needs. Looking for a fast, low-profile shoe? Check out the ‘Propel Me’ section. Need a softer ride to baby your feet? You’ll want the shoes listed in ‘Cushion Me’. The latest installment in the successful Adrenaline series falls safely into the this soft, protective category, and continues to show why it is a favorite among its loyal fans.

One of the big reasons for the popularity of the Adrenaline series is the amount of thought Brooks has put into the design of the shoe. Never one to change a design, just to satisfy those lusting for all things ‘new and different’, (that’s what seasonal colors are for) Brooks has thoughtfully kept hands-off the good stuff. The BioMoGo DNA midsole was left to provide the same adaptive cushioning, as well as the Progressive Diagonal Rollbar for added control. The moisture management mesh upper was also carried over to this year. I’ve been testing Brooks Running for the last six years, and even though all their proprietary jargon may not mean a whole lot to consumers, the gist is that it’s a really comfortable ride that runners of all levels love.

Brooks SoleFor me, the ride felt very similar to last year’s model, but looking around at different user reviews, I did see a few that thought the 16 has a slightly stiffer sole than last year–so keep that in mind. I usually wear a 9.5 in street shoes, but size up to 10 for running–the Adrenaline 16 is a perfect fit. User reviews reported the same, so you’re good to guess sizing if you decide buy online.

The is a big deal for me, since I have an autoimmune that can cause my feet to swell unexpectedly. I have a few friends that are on their feet a lot for work, and ordered the 16’s for work and play, as soon as the email dropped from Brooks. The cushion makes the Adrenaline 16 a great choice, not only for those with a preference for a supported ride but for newbies, runners packing in the extra miles, athletes who need to baby their joints and anyone looking for happy feet.

The Adrenaline GTS 16 comes in men’s and women’s sizing.
