Maybe it’s just me, but when I put on a pair of running shorts and they don’t fit or move right, it puts a kink in my whole workout. Chaffing, bunching, curling…none of these issues make me happy. Consequently, I decided it was time to review a good solid pair of Go-To shorts, from some people who know runners. Brooks sent me the Go-To 5″ Running Shorts for my consideration, and man, did they hit the nail on the head.

The shorts are made of a light-weight, polyester fabric that wicks away moisture for comfort, as well as discouraging the awkward bunching issues that plague some runners. For those running in high humidity, this feature is especially welcome, regardless of your body type. Running in heat is difficult enough, but running with fabric clinging to your skin, can just be plain old irritating, and this fabric falls comfortably on the better side of the scale.

I threw them in my bag, for runs in the dry-heat and sand of Moab, Utah, and on a quick trip to Northern Florida, where the summer humidity is ramping up nicely. The Go-To Running Shorts were just what I was hoping they would be. They’re  soft to the touch, and feature a mesh brief liner, and while the waistband is a basic stretch band, it didn’t cut into my waist at all. The right hip features a sweat-resistant zippered pocket, big enough to fit your keys, a few dollars and the iPod you’ve been using since 2005, (you know who you are.) I can easily recommend the shorts to anyone looking for a versatile, quality pair for running as well as cross training.

The Brooks Women’s Go-To 5″ Running Shorts come in three colors, and sizes XS-XL. Brooks also offers a 3″ version, with the same features.
